HOBART – UX designer and podcast enthusiast Carl Walker reached the enviable milestone of not having done a single work-related task all day.
Mr. Walker, who had to be in the office on a Friday, made the conscious decision to do everything but the tasks he was supposed to.
‘Yeah it’s been great, I started my day by checking Slack and adding a few thumbs-up emojis so people see that I’m online. I then went to the cafe to get a coffee, then I came back and searched for Pokemon around the office. I still play that game!’
Mr. Walker stated he moved his Friday meetings to the following week, then listened to two podcasts and had an extended lunch break. He capped off the day by browsing Reddit on his phone for an hour and then played Excel Battleship with another colleague who was also forced to be in the office.
Reports indicate he logged off at 5pm, but due to a script he wrote himself that shows his laptop as being active Mr. Walker had been in the pub since 3:30pm.
