Poorly planned Christmas party just drinks at the pub on a Wednesday afternoon

“To be honest we’re just too burned out to organise anything, but we’ll buy you a pint”

Sydney – After a round of layoffs earlier this year, tightening budgets across all departments, global conflicts, the neverending waves of Covid and the CEO’s wife taking half his assets in the divorce means that times are tough for this digital studio.

Conversations started happening back in October on where the Christmas party will be, as previous years they had harbour cruises, day trips to the Blue Mountains and even go kart racing. But it seems that this year, seemingly the longest year in human history, staff were too tired to organise anything.

On Wednesday CEO Chris Andrews sent a Slack message to the team reading ‘Alright team, we’re all very tired and no one can be bothered to do anything. We also forgot to book a venue when it was flagged with us months ago. So now the moment has passed. Let’s have a long lunch at the Cricketers Arms Hotel. I’ll even buy the first round’.

It was reported that the party could be described as sombre at best. Proceedings ceased at 3:20pm when the last employee called it a day.
