Adelaide – At 3:12pm a Slack notification was sent to the office which read ‘@here. Could the person who left their half-eaten sandwich in the kitchen sink please dispose of it and wash your plate. The dishwash fairy took the day off’. This was followed by three people posting the big eyes emoji reaction.
Less than a minute later another reply read ‘And can the person that left the bowl of muesli in the sink please do something with it. It’s been there since at least 10:30am’ to which a barrage of ^This reactions flooded in.
Not long after this more people started commenting on the state of the kitchen ranging from ‘Please put away clean plates from the drying rack’ to ‘When you use the coffee machine can you ensure there’s no grounds left on the counter’
With tensions visibly rising local Front End Dev and budding comedian Joe Chambers took to giphy to add his valuable contribution. After searching for ‘eating popcorn’ he decided to use the GIF of Michael Jackson in the cinema, circa the Thriller music video.
When he posted the reply in the group chat he scanned the crowd excitedly. His thoughts confirmed, they all burst out laughing and applauded his fantastic GIF posting skills.
Needless to say this GIF defused the situation and everyone realised how pointless this endeavour was and thus did the best work they did all year.
