Preston, Melbourne – IT Specialist Nick Sonderson thought he was in luck when he scored a remote role for the Sydney-based logistics company.
Mr. Sonderson, who is a Melbourne native and resides in Preston has found the perfect work/life balance as his state and New South Wales shares the same timezone.
Everything was great.Until he was told he’ll be working on Monday, 11 March. Which is a public holiday in Victoria.
Labour Day celebrates the achievements of workers in the labour union movement, and especially the eight-hour day movement. However none of that matters as Mr. Sonderson’s friends are spamming his Insta feed with Golden Plains celebrations, camping beachside down the coast and late night Sunday pub sessions.
So far he’s had to reset fourteen passwords and instruct a user how to charge their keyboard. At the same time his group chat has been blowing up with his mates having morning swims in Lorne.
At the time of writing Grand Final Day and Melbourne Cup Day hasn’t entered his stream of consciousness.
