SYDNEY – New HR Manager Diane O’Connor was welcomed to the business by CEO Mark Garner. Mrs. O’Connor, who had previously worked for a pharmaceutical company said she was delighted to start this new role.
‘I have managed HR teams for over a decade and they appreciated it when I would call them after hours for minor tasks. It showed how driven I was in their success and pushed them harder. Once I called a colleague on their holiday to ask if they had sent an email to the contractor. I know they confirmed it in their handover notes but calling them on their own time made them feel special’, said Mrs. O’Connor.
‘There was also that time I gave my team a significant amount of tasks on a Thursday afternoon that was due by end of week. Pushing them is what makes them respect me.’
Mrs. O’Connor announced that she has big plans for her department to boost productivity and review processes, with many late nights and even some weekends needed. At the time of writing it was observed that her subordinates looked concerned.
