ADELAIDE – Thrilled to be invited for an interview Joseph Becker woke up early that morning and ironed his best shirt. He then arrived at the address 15 minutes early to collect his thoughts.
Mr. Becker, who recently graduated with a Bachelor of Business, has spent the past few months frantically applying for every entry-level job that doesn’t require five years of experience. It is believed he found the Junior Business Analyst role advertised on LinkedIn and sent off his resume and cover letter, along with many other applications.
Reports indicate he arrived at the reception area and was told the panel will be ready in ten minutes. In an effort to kill time he searched the most common interview scenarios and saw that the first question tends to be what they know about the company. Shocked, Mr. Becker realised he had no idea what the company does and started to frantically research, landing on its About Us page but still not understanding terms such as synergy and coalesce.
Post interview the hiring manager described Mr. Becker as jittery. They said they’d let him know about the role.
