Melbourne – Helpdesk guy Frank Wells achieved the enviable milestone this week of asking whether the client had tried restarting, for the 300th time.
In a tally run by the helpdesk team Mr. Wells’ colleague Emily Daniels was looking to secure the magical number as she ran a few updates on client’s computers and informed them they needed to restart. Later that day Ms. Daniels started receiving phonecalls from said clients, notably those aged over 50. Upon troubleshooting it was confirmed they did not restart.
However this was no match for Mr. Wells who had to patch an entire team’s system tools. Reports indicate he sent out a note saying once completed they’d need to restart, but no one read the note or communicated with each other. Mr. Wells reached his 300th ‘Have you tried restarting?’ by Wednesday lunchtime. With his record cemented he anticipates asking it a further hundred times before the week is over.
